Negative Energy

You’ve had a long day/week/month and haven’t closed a good deal in as long as you can remember. So you’re at your desk muttering to yourself and thinking of what will go wrong next. If you were Charlie Brown there would be a little grey storm cloud over head.

Do you really think you’re going to sell anything like that? Clients (and everyone else around you) can sense bad energy and want nothing to do with it. They are either going to be less likely to buy from you, and/or more likely to grind you over the coals.

Your prospecting will be weaker, your followup will be meaningless and you’ll be a pain in the ass to be around as it spirals deeper.

This is when it is time for you to take a walk, take a longer lunch, take the afternoon off – whatever you have to do to get your head right.

So what if you’re not the Negative Nancy but the guy next to you is?
MOVE

Negativity is contagious so don’t hang out next to the guy who we just described above unless you want to both suffer. Find someone in a better mood and be near them for a while, even better find someone else who just made a sale and hang out near them. The positive energy is contagious too and maybe you can catch a little.

Lesson for today: Be aware of how your feelings are affecting your performance and make an effort to keep the bad mojo away from your work.
