How to Scare a Client

Scared Ghost

When you’re in a long term relationship with a client sometimes on development you’ll run over on budget. Usually this results in a pissed off client. But they usually aren’t mad for the reason you think they are. They aren’t mad because they went over budget – most of them lied to you about their budget anyway. They’re mad because they were surprised with one week left in a 5 week relationship that you still had 3 weeks of work because of various things that happened early in the project. Clients don’t hate budget overruns – in software they usually expect it – they hate surprises.
