Weaknesses
We all have them, even you. Don’t hide from your weaknesses, know them, acknowledge them, embrace them, and then attack them mercilessly.
Knowing Your Weaknesses
Be honest with yourself about the things you are good at and bad at. You know in your heart of hearts what you need to improve on the most to really step your game up. If you can be really honest here, and admit your down points you can overcome them.
Acknowledge Your Weaknesses
Now that you’ve been honest with yourself in the privacy of your own mind, I’m going to make it hard on you. You need to publicly announce what you suck at. You don’t need to take out a full page ad proclaiming your weaknesses but you need to tell those you work with what you need help with. You need to step out and find help to improve in those areas. Two of my biggest weaknesses are that I allow myself to be easily distracted and that I suck at fresh lead generation. I’ve recently taken steps to help improve in both of these areas by getting assistance from those who are better than me. We’ll see how this goes.
Unleash Hell
Now work like a dog to make yourself better at these things. Take each weakness you attack and squash it as much as possible so that you are forced to focus on something else to improve. Attack it as though if you don’t it will overrun you and cause your company to fail. Because left unchecked, it will. You still won’t be perfect, but you’ll be better if you can really attack each of your weaknesses and improve upon them.
