When Are You Done?

When is the Salesman’s job done?
- When you get the client to say they want to work with you?
- When you get the signed contract?
- When you start their development?
- When you deliver their final deliverable?
- When you receive the last payment for their work?
- When you thank them after all those?
- When you check in for follow up work a few weeks later?
- When you check in with them for referrals a month or two later?
- When you send them a happy birthday/merry christmas/anniversary card a year later?
- When you finish the work for their referral?
- When you change your offerings?
- ….
- ….
Do you get my hint yet? You’re never “done” with a client. Keep working, keep digging, keep in touch – maybe they’ll need something else or know someone who will – but if you are no longer visible to them you’ll be forgotten.
